Yarra Gum is a medium-sized eucalypt that is critically endangered, it is found primarily along creek lines and drainage flats on the basalt plains and foothills of Southern Victoria, where it favours deep, fertile, seasonally moist soils.

It is an ecologically significant tree in increasingly fragmented grassy woodland landscapes.
