CAMPING, ACCOMODATION

AND TRANSPORT

At this stage it looks like we should have parking on site. There’s also a chance we’ll be running shuttle buses to the GROUNDED site from our local town of Cygnet on both days, if there’s enough demand. Plan on staying near Cygnet or Huonville and allow time to get to the farm, park and walk, like any festival. If you have additional accessible needs, so be sure to factor that in and let us know when you book.

Accommodation is, as you can imagine, limited in our region, but there are options near and far, depending on budget and when you book. If you’re staying in Hobart, which isn’t a terrible option and has plenty more places to sleep, it’s worth knowing that Cygnet is nearly an hour’s drive away.

The best list of accommodation we can find is thanks to our friends at the Cygnet Folk Festival.

Have a look at https://www.cygnetfolkfestival.org/about/accommodation. As they state, quite clearly, this is just an advisory list, and things change, places open and close, so it’s best to do your own homework. Places listed also do not automatically get a personal recommendation from us, as you can imagine we don’t have the resources to check everything personally.

We have organised with a local farmer to provide primitive camping just down the Huon River a bit. (By primitive, that means there’s water and a loo, that’s all.) Please don’t camp illegally as this will only end badly for you (and potentially for us).

For camping enquiries, please contact Sharon on 0418 950 587.

Depending on numbers, Sharon may also be able to provide a shuttle to and from the event at the start and end of each day. As GROUNDED will be open from early each day, you can get something to eat all day on site until the afternoon of the 4th, if that makes the catering easier for camping.

There is also a caravan park in Cygnet (0418 532 160), and one in Huonville (https://huonvalleycaravanpark.com.au), so there are a few options nearby.

We are still finalising the car parking logistics, as we have various obstacles onsite. Plan on staying near Cygnet or Huonville if you can, as this will make for a shorter trip because you’ll need to get to us, park, walk, check in, and then join the event, which can take more time than you might think. We’re about 15 minutes away from both Cygnet and Huonville. The only parking we can guarantee close to our dining room is for those who have mobility issues, and if that is you, you’ll need to arrange a parking spot with us prior.

At this stage we envisage each day starting with some gentle stretches (farmer yoga anyone?) and/or coffee from about 7.30am, and the first day finishing about 8pm with some social activities and some light music. The second day should be all wrapped up by 6pm.
